The Aphrodite Beach Club is a wonderful four-star resort at Gouves on the eastern end of Crete – great facilities and a beachfront location combine to produce the perfect Greek holiday. This hotel is something of a swimmer’s delight: there is an outdoor pool with salt water, an outdoor pool with fresh water, an indoor pool and two children’s pools, not to mention direct access onto a heavenly sandy beach. Other facilities include a fitness studio, saunas, a hair salon, children’s playground and kids’ club and a good selection of sports.

The restaurant is bright and modern, and guests can help themselves to the delights of the most sumptuous of buffets, with the choice of eating inside or al fresco on the terrace. There is also a lobby bar, a beach bar, two pool bars and a disco bar with an open-air disco. The rooms are furnished in contemporary style with plenty of mod cons, including air conditioning, satellite TV, fridges, bathroom amenities and a balcony or terrace with a sea or garden view. The Aphrodite Beach Club is situated 18 kilometres from Heraklion and seven kilometres from Hersonissos, making it an excellent base for exploring the eastern end of the island.
