The position of ClubHotel Riu Karamboa, makes this a great spot for secluded holiday. Surrounded by beach dunes on the beach of Praia de Salines, this hotel has an oasis feel. The Moorish design makes this look like sultan’s palace, with its high domed ceilings and wonderful arched windows. Inside there’s a courtyard-style lobby with large spiral-effect pillars and cushioned wicker armchairs.

The pool area is the big draw, it’s large, lagoon-shaped pool fringed with sunbeds and elegant water loungers. A shady swim-up bar sits at one end, and completing the scene is a whirlpool bath and a separate kids’ pool. There’s a spa offering a variety of treatments from massages to body wraps.

The rooms are African inpired with lacquered cabinets, wicker armchairs and colonial-style ceiling fans. Plus each one has a balcony.
