The Ionian Emerald Resort is one of Kefalonia’s newest luxury retreats – and it boasts a beachfront location that is to die for. This is a small hotel with high levels of service and first class facilities. Between the hotel and the beach, the outdoor pool has an azure shimmer that simply seems to invite you in – if you can resist the call of the elegant sun loungers and the temptation of a drink from the poolside bar. A mile from the hotel and you will find the popular resort of Sami, which was used at the location for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Along the harbour front there are plenty of cafes and restaurants and the area is sprinkled with plenty of historic ruins.
