Offering up tradition and style in equal measure, the Marillia Village is brimming with Aegean charm.

This dinky holiday village might be a new build but, in terms of looks, it’s traditionally Greek. Not only have the designers stuck to the sugar cube buildings that are authentic to these parts, they’ve left much of the original landscape intact, too – swaying palms, twisted olive trees and pretty climbing vines sit in the surrounding gardens.

As for the accommodation itself, there are a mix of studios, suites, apartments and maisonettes on offer. Each one has a boutique vibe – we’re talking bold feature walls, wooden furniture, wrought-iron beds and gilt-framed mirrors. Private balconies or terraces come with every room, too, and the garden views are fantastic. Contemporary comforts like air-conditioning and satellite TVs complete the picture.

Outside, meanwhile, the real standout feature is the swimming pool. Backed by rolling hills and framed by potted palms and bright pink bougainvillea, it’s in a great spot. Add a whirlpool bath to the mix, as well as an open-air bar and a separate shallow pool for the children, and it’s easy to see why this fresh-out-of-the-wrapping hotel already rates so highly with TripAdvisor reviewers.

As for dining, breakfasts here are a help-yourself affair with a mix of hot and cold dishes on offer. For lunch and dinner, meanwhile, head to the poolside bar. With local dishes and international favourites on the menu, there’s plenty to keep your eats interesting. Drinks-wise, give the house wine a try – it’s made using grapes from the Marillia’s very own vineyards. Lastly, when you fancy eating out, Perivolvos beach is just a stone’s throw away. Lined with restaurants and tavernas, it’s a top spot for fresh seafood.
