For a hotel that combines a fabulous pool scene with an impressive spa and great food, it’s got to be Saint John.

Picture stacked sugarcube villas with powder-blue shutters and you’ve got this place. It’s only just been built and the vibe here is all about pared down luxury. Take the bedrooms for example. Looks-wise, expect a neutral colour scheme with white furniture. They all come with a lounge area featuring plump sofas, and each one has a balcony with great views over the Aegean. Bathrooms, meanwhile, all come with a whirlpool bath or steam shower.

As for the pool scene, it’s pretty impressive. Taking centre-stage is a whirlpool bath that’s bigger than some swimming pools. Behind it is a massive infinity pool, with a bridge disappearing down the middle that leads down to a private beach. Decking lines the edge of the water while wicker daybeds and white cushions make it an ideal tanning spot. Adding the finishing touch is Kalimera, a great spot for a buffet breakfast or leisurely lunch.

On the subject of food, it’s just another thing the hotel does well. There are another two eateries to choose from, with Greek-Med menus. For something truly special, head to the appropriately named 7th Heaven. You’ll find a candle-lit, outdoor terrace serving up a side-order of sea views with your meal. It’s got an impressive wine list, too.

And if you’ve got room for a little more luxury, head over to the Aphrodite Spa. It’s got state-of-the-art treatment rooms and a menu that includes hot stone therapies.

Finally, a word on location - it’s only a ten-minute ride away from the centre of Mykonos, meaning you’re within easy reach of all its glam bars and shops.
