An easy drive from Orlando’s theme parks, this Med-style complex makes an elegant home-from-home.

This gated complex is designed to look like a Mediterranean village. Cream-painted apartment blocks flank palm-lined avenues. And there’s a central building finished with stonework, colonnades and terracotta roofs.

It’s in a good location, too. It’s set just off a main highway so you can be at the gates of Walt Disney World Resort in 20 minutes. What’s more, the complex fringes a beautiful golf course and has lots of malls and restaurants nearby.

The main building steals the limelight. The lobby has an Italian country house feel, thanks to its elegant high-backed chairs and dark-wood antiques. Walk through it and you’ll come to the Tuscana Tavern. Complete with wicker armchairs and tables that spill out onto a veranda, it’s a lovely spot for meals and drinks. In terms of the menu, expect options like steaks, ribs and salads for lunch and dinner. Elsewhere, there’s a movie theatre and a state-of-the-art gym.

The pool deserves a mention, too. Set into a large terrace, it’s a two-in-one affair with a lagoon-like section attached to an Olympic-length pool. A children’s pool and a large whirlpool bath complete the picture.

Lastly, you’ve got the apartments. Spacious and bright, they come with two or three bedrooms and are finished with cream décor and polished wood furniture. Extras come in the form of cable TVs in the bedrooms and balconies so you have your own outdoor space.
