When it comes to laid back Caribbean holidays, Jamaica has to be number one. Legendary home of Bob Marley, its reggae roots go deep and the island is still rich with the musician's legacy. Holidays in Ocho Rios, a harbour town, are an easygoing combination of boutique bustle and lovely, sandy Caribbean beach. Shopping here is excellent, with good prices on cigars, coffee, duty-free and, of course, rum. Local jewellery is especially worth looking out for and there are plenty of other interesting island-made items. Holidays in Jamaica must include some uniquely Jamaican cuisine; ackee and saltfish is best prepared with fresh ackee, a local and highly nutritious fruit that looks like scrambled eggs.
