The Grand Palladium doesn’t do things by halves. Take its location. It’s exotic, it’s tropical and it’s paradise. Set on the powdery-white sands of Bavaro Beach, the pristine Caribbean Sea laps the shores providing an idyllic spot to work on the tan. Alternatively, for the more adventurous, there’s a host of watersports based at the beach that’ll turn the knuckles white.

Back on-site, life tends to revolve around the swimming pools. There are just the two, but make no mistake, they’re huge. Both lagoon-style, they work their way around the complex and are flanked by thatched parasols, plenty of sunbeds and numerous palms. For a spot of refreshment, you’ve also got four swim-up, poolside bars.

And for anybody who really wants to banish the winter blues, there’s an excellent spa that’ll have the stresses of home melting away in no time. There’s the full A-Z of treatments, ranging from massages and facials, to wraps and manicures. Or on the other side of the coin, you’ve got an exhaustive list of sports to choose from. Think minigolf, basketball, badminton and far more besides.

Food-wise, you’re spoilt for choice with no fewer than 11 restaurants and 12 bars. The restaurants are a thoroughly globe-trotting affair, so one night you can be rolling up a burrito in the Mexican, and the next enjoying a pizza in the Italian or some sushi in the Asian. And when it’s time to call it a night, expect bright and airy bedrooms with a colourful vibe and nice-to-haves like satellite TVs, air-conditioning and balconies.
