Set on a tree-stacked hillside with gorgeous views, the peaceful Hermes Apartments make a great escape.

Set on a green hillside dotted with olive trees, the Hermes Apartments are in a sought-after spot. Aside from the postcard-worthy views and all that back-to-nature woodland, they’re just a five-minute walk from sandy Kolios Beach. You’ll find a supermarket and a great mix of bars, cafes and restaurants within easy reach, too. Skiathos, meanwhile, is a 15-minute bus ride away. In fact, the only issue with this peaceful spot is the steep climb up to reach it. But if you don’t mind the legwork, it’s definitely worth the walk. Or you could always hire your own set of wheels.

The apartments themselves have been recently renovated, so everything’s bright, spacious and well-equipped. White walls, tiled floors and rustic wooden furniture offer a taste of authentic Greece. They vary in size, too, with the largest ones sleeping up to seven. Plus, they’ve all got fully-fitted kitchens and private balconies, so rustling up a meal and dining al fresco go hand in hand.

Outside, meanwhile, the views down to the coast are to die for. But taking centre-stage is a classic rectangular swimming pool, bordered by loungers, sun shades and terracotta pots. And just across from the pool, you’ll find the Hermes Restaurant. With its own wooden stove, this place cooks up authentic Mediterranean cuisine alongside daily specials like pizzas and just-caught seafood.
