If you like your holidays authentic, you’ll love this hotel. Set just off Ravello’s main piazza, it’s perfectly placed for the must-see sights. Ravello has a slower pace than some of its Amalfi Coast neighbours, and life here pretty much revolves around the main square. It’s lined with pavement cafés, plus there’s a good sprinkling of family-run trattorias.

The hotel itself has an intimate vibe, and from the outside you’ll feel as though you’re stepping into someone’s house and not a hotel. The converted villa’s actually been run by the same family for four generations, so you’re guaranteed a warm welcome.

Inside, it’s just as homely. All whitewashed walls and tiled floors, the focus is on simple Italian style. The bedrooms also follow this pared down theme, with cream walls and fuss-free furnishings. Big windows mean they’re bright and airy, too. Plus, the views from some of the rooms look out onto rolling hills dotted with whitewashed villas.

The real stand-out feature of this place, though, is the garden. Think lush greenery and scented flowers. There are plenty of chairs, so you can gaze across to neighbouring Scala while relaxing with a limoncello.

For beach lovers the nearest one is in Amalfi, a 25 minute drive away. Dark sand and shingle, so don't forget your beach shoes. You'll find a public section where you can put your towels out - private bathing sections too, for a fee, with sunbeds and umbrellas.
