This place is family-run, and it’s the owners’ hands-on approach and attention to detail that really make it stand out from the crowd. They grow some of the fruit and vegetables for the hotel’s restaurant themselves. And the friendly staff know the local area like the back of their hand. Furthermore, the location is fantastic. Maleme Beach is just over the road and Platanias Village is five kilometres away.

The apartments themselves are housed in contemporary buildings with sand-coloured walls and chunky white balconies. Well-kept gardens dotted with palm trees, cacti and bright bougainvillea frame the set-up. Plus, you’ll find a sea-facing swimming pool complete with its own bridge crossing tucked in among the greenery. Factor in a curvy sun terrace, a snack bar and a separate children’s pool - a section of the main pool, and you’ve got everything you need to unwind.

Food-wise, the hotel restaurant prides itself on its menu of local specialities. Having said that, the chefs also rustle up a mean Sunday roast if you fancy a taste of home. And there are plenty of other well-known eats on the menu, too – think pasta dishes, salads and seafood. Inside Mike's Hotel, things have a classic Greek feel. We’re talking whitewashed walls, simple wooden furniture and landscape paintings.

The hotel is set back just 150 metres from the Studios and Apartments. Kitchenettes featuring kettles and toasters come as standard in these Studios and Apartments located down by the beach, as do lounge areas complete with TVs and DVD players. When it comes to outside space, each apartment or studio has its own balcony or terrace.
