Expect contemporary interiors, a big pool, and a gourmet restaurant at this hotel in the heart of Pietrasanta.

The Mondial Resort is contemporary from top to toe. In the lobby, for example, monochrome décor provides the backdrop for funky zebra-print chairs and striped sofas. Bedrooms have a calmer feel, with neutral colour schemes, soft lighting and organza curtains. Deluxe rooms are also available, and offer a bit more space.

Outside, the pool is set in a smart decked terrace dotted with sunloungers. There’s also an indoor pool at the hotel’s spa, which comes with waterfalls and a whirlpool bath. Treatments at the spa include collagen facials, and you can also take an Emotional Shower, which uses scent and coloured lights to encourage relaxation.

The restaurant serves a Continental breakfast, and a gourmet Italian à la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Dishes include things like octopus carpaccio and linguine with rabbit ragout.

In terms of location, the hotel is close to the centre of Marina di Pietrasanta a 2-minute walk from one of its biggest attractions – the golden sand at the marina. There’s a small charge to use the beach. If you want to venture a bit further, the Apuan Alps are around a 10-minute drive away. They’re famous for their marble, which has been used by sculptors from Michelangelo to Henry Moore.
