Set in half an acre of gardens and edged by pine and olive trees, the Villa Funda is in a scenic spot. Plus, because the property is cocooned by greenery, things feel really secluded. That’s not to say you’re out on a limb, though – the centre of Bitez is just a five-minute drive away.

The villa’s centrepiece is the swimming pool, which is set in a stone terrace and bordered by loungers and greenery. Follow a cobbled path up some steps, meanwhile, and you’ll come to a shaded table and chairs.

Inside, the designers have taken a rustic approach. In the lounge, exposed stone walls and tiled floors are accessorised by homely rugs and a cosy fireplace. There’s seating for seven and a satellite TV, as well, so you’ve got everything you need for nights in.
