You get the best of two worlds when you stay at the Aurora Hotel. On one hand, the property is less than a ten-minute walk from the historical centre of Amalfi, so it’s a great base for sightseeing. On the other hand, it’s just a few strides from a small sand-and-shingle beach, which is really handy because there is no pool here. There’s a charge for access, but you can easily laze the day away once you’re there.

The hotel itself looks out over the Mediterranean Sea and the sweeping Amalfi coast, and it’s surrounded by pine trees and green shrubbery. One of the best places to enjoy the scenery is from the terrace. A bougainvillea-topped pergola provides the shade here as you soak up the sea views.

When it comes to food, the hotel serves a buffet breakfast of Italian coffee, fruit and pastries. At dinner time, it’s less than a five-minute walk to the nearest restaurant.
