From the outside, this place looks more like a grand Greek villa than a hotel. We’re talking whitewashed walls and red-roofed verandas. And the setting is pretty special, too – the property is framed by pine-filled gardens and it’s just a stone’s throw from the beach.

In terms of what else is nearby, Hanioti is a 20-minute walk in one direction, Polichrono is half an hour in the other, and there are lots of little beach bars in between. The hotel runs a regular shuttle bus to Hanioti, too, so you’re sorted when you don’t fancy walking.

At the hotel itself, the swimming pool is the star attraction. It’s a massive slab of blue bordered by terraces and lawns, so there’s plenty of space to relax. What’s more, there’s a small, raised pool bar at one end.

Looks-wise, the property is quite grand in an old-fashioned way. Cue big marble spaces finished with satiny, ruched blinds, mirrored pillars and floral sofas. Things are toned down in the bedrooms, which are dressed in understated greys and blues. They’re bright and roomy, and their en suites come with bathtubs – something of a rarity in Greece. In-room extras include TVs and minibars. And all rooms come with a balcony, some with views of the sea.

Lastly, there’s the restaurant to think about. Hot and cold buffet breakfasts are served up here every morning, and at night, four-course dinners – some help-yourself, some served by waiters – are the order of the day.
