The Hotel Illa d’Or is an old-fashioned grand hotel in every sense – stylish, traditional and luxurious, where you will feel like an honoured guest rather than a tourist. This glorious Spanish colonial property overlooks the sweeping bay of Puerto Pollensa on Majorca – from the hotel’s private jetty and sandy beach, you can take a dip in the warm blue waters of the Med. Alterntively, the hotel boasts an elegant outdoor pool with palm-fringed sun terraces and a heated indoor pool, complete with sauna and whirlpool. There’s also a gym, a tennis court, bicycle or boat hire, and golf packages are available to take advantage of the excellent local golf clubs.

The interior of the Illa d’Or is as grand and spectacular as its outside: expect marble floors, sumptuous furnishings, a grand staircase and elegant dining rooms. And talking of food, the main restaurant serves buffet breakfast and lunch with waiter service at dinner; additionally, in summer you can enjoy a la carte dining at La Terrassa restaurant. The bedrooms are pretty and elegantly furnished, with air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar and bathrobes. Upgrades to see views are available. The location couldn’t be better – just a ten minute stroll along the seafront will bring you to the centre of Puera Pollensa, a lovely beach resort with old-world charm, plenty of restaurants, great water sports and some good sightseeing in the local area.
