Classical Spanish grandeur is very much the style at this quiet, elegant hotel.

With its fortress-like turrets and impressive tapestries, you’ll think you’ve stepped into a castle at the Villamil. A spiral staircase edged with iron hand rails swirls up from the marbled lobby floor. Dark-wood furniture in traditional Spanish style is off-set with shades of salmon and yellow, courtesy of classically-styled armchairs. Luxurious lounges add to the sophisticated look.

It’s an impressive introduction, and closer inspection doesn’t disappoint. There’s the location to consider, for a start. The Villamil is pulled right up to the soft sands of palm-fringed Palmira beach. And when you feel like getting out and about, you’ve got the shops and restaurants of Paguera right on your doorstep. A new pedestrian promenade running right beside the hotel means it’s all easily accessible.

Vibe-wise there’s a very relaxed feel about the Villamil. Landscaped gardens and extensive sun terraces overlook the swimming pool and beach, providing plenty of spots for lounging. The outdoor furniture is just as comfortable as it is handsome.

When it comes to dining, a range of traditional Spanish dishes features alongside a wide spectrum of international food. And there’s a side-order of magnificent views when you dine al fresco or sip a cocktail at sunset.
