If a traditional seaside holiday is what you’re after, this pretty pastel-washed villa in the tiny village of Perna, on the Peljesac Peninsula, fits the bill nicely. The six apartments are bright and modern and right on the sea-front so the sound of the sea is never far away. And you’re never treated like a room number here – more like an old friend.

The villa has its own private pier in front of the house, and all around, there’s peaceful countryside. You can be as quiet and relaxed as you want, or venture a little further afield to enjoy water sports or kayaking.

Inside, the décor is neutral and unfussy with tiled floors and a balcony with sea views towards Korcula Island. There’s a spacious double bedroom and a smart open-plan living space with a lounge area that has a comfy sofa and satellite television. The contemporary-style kitchen has all the mod cons as well as a dining table seating four. More likely, though, you’ll choose to eat out on your balcony, which also has a table and chairs.

There are restaurants just minutes away and you can get a ferry to Korcula which takes ten minutes. Dubrovnik, meanwhile, is a 90-minute drive away.
