This cluster of villas is set in a tranquil area just outside Platanias. They look out over olive and orange groves, and are built in traditional Greek style, with chunky stone walls, arches and terracotta roofs. Each one is set in its own landscaped garden. And each outdoor space has a sun terrace with loungers and parasols.

All villas have private pools, some of which are completely indoors, some of which are partly outside. You’ll find wickerwork sofas and daybeds next to them, and large arched windows with views stretching out across the countryside.

Inside, the focus is on pared-down elegance. Living rooms, for example, have an exposed stone wall, and low-back sofas with chocolate-brown cushions. Fireplaces and bread ovens add a homely touch, and 42-inch plasma TVs keep things modern. Kitchens, meanwhile, are sleek, with cylindrical lamps and breakfast bars with stainless steel stools. And bedrooms – there are 3 – are contemporary, with large wooden headboards and photographic prints on the walls.

In terms of location, the villas are less than 10 minutes’ walk from Platanias’ Blue Flag beach, which stretches up the coast for around 10 kilometres. From here, it’s around a 30-minute drive to the Samaria Gorge National Park.
