Gazing out over chestnut groves and the town of Ravello, this charming, family-run hotel is great for sightseers and walkers.

If you like your holidays with a rural feel, you’ll love this hotel. First, it’s perched on a hillside, looking out over chestnut groves and the neighbouring town of Ravello. Next, it edges the tiny hamlet of Scala. We’re talking two shops, a church and a bar. And that’s not all on the location front - there are lots of nearby hill paths ideal for walkers.

Setting aside, the hotel’s family-run with the intimate feel that often goes with it. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, too. And things are run like a well-oiled machine, with everything kept spotless, from the pool to the rooms.

Inside, the décor is crisp and clean with old-school Italian touches like chandeliers and tiled floors. There’s a bright dining room with an outdoor terrace gazing over the valley. In terms of food, the menu focuses on local cuisine - everything from home-cooked pizzas to fresh fish. Plus there’s a bar terrace sitting under pine trees and adorned with a tinkling fountain - ideal for relaxing over glasses of limoncello.

The rooms are simple but welcoming. Decorated in white with patterned tiled floors, they’re light and airy, too. Best of all, each connects to a French balcony that gives you your own private share of those breathtaking views.

The pool is worth a mention as well. Set on a lower terrace, it’s small but certainly does the job. Sunloungers and parasols are supplied, too, if you want to simply lie back and enjoy the scenery.
