The Villa Dragonaro makes a comfy, modern base. Recently built, it stands in a group of similar villas on the fringes of Ovacik, with pine-clad hills providing a scenic backdrop. You’re not cut off here, either. It’s just a short drive to shops and restaurants, while the beach at Olu Deniz is 15 minutes away by car.

If you prefer staying put, meanwhile, set up camp by the villa’s pool. A good-sized rectangular number, it’s bordered by square terraces furnished with sunloungers and parasols. Adding to everything is a spacious covered terrace that wraps right around the property, the perfect spot for dining al fresco.

Step inside, meanwhile, and everything is fresh and well-maintained. The décor is nicely understated, with neutral shades and cream floor tiles setting the scene in every room. What’s more, there’s lots of natural light, so everywhere feels bright and airy.

In terms of the bedrooms, there are two – one double and one twin. They’re both furnished in pale wood, with the master double leading to an en suite shower room and balcony. The twin room, meanwhile, comes with a French balcony.

As for the living space, it’s made up of an open-plan lounge and kitchen, both finished in the same crisp and contemporary style as the rest of the place. Comfy grey sofas provide enough seats for everyone and there’s a widescreen TV and DVD player for evenings in. The kitchen is nice, too. Fitted with white cupboards and marble worktops, it’s well-equipped with useful features like a microwave, toaster and washing machine.
