More Zen retreat than Turkish hotel, the Fuga Fine Times is the epitome of serenity. It’s set more than two kilometres from the centre of Gumbet, making it the perfect choice if you’re looking to escape the crowds. The whole place is dotted with colourful flowers and is just footsteps from its own little private beach, so it’s got a really peaceful vibe. What’s more, because it’s raised up on a hillside, gorgeous views of the Aegean Sea come as standard.

One of the best places to soak up the views is the pool area. Two supersized pools take centre stage, while sleek wooden decks sport futon-like sunloungers and marshmallow cushions. Both pools have their own bars, too, so you’re never far from a cool drink or a tasty snack. When you’re in the mood for all out pampering though, make a beeline for the spa, where everything from Indian head massages to seaweed wraps are on offer.

The bedrooms, meanwhile, are just as relaxing. Earthy-coloured walls are accessorised with bamboo blinds and wooden panelling, giving them a back-to-nature feel. In-room extras come in the form of satellite TVs and air-conditioning, while private balconies provide the finishing touches.

Mealtimes at the Fuga are all about choice. At the breakfast buffet, tables are piled high with pastries and fresh fruit, while delicious omelettes are made to order. At lunch and dinner, you can help yourself to the likes of pizza, fish and traditional Turkish flatbread. Or for something extra special, book a table at one of the à la cartes. The Fugamarin specialises in fresh-from-the-net seafood, while the Mongolian offers up a taste of the Far East.
