The gay-friendly, four star, Hotel Neptuno, on buzzing Playa del Ingles is footsteps from the Yumbo Centre, and offers up everything you need for a great holiday. It’s a modern hotel and if you are looking for total tranquillity free from the bustle of families and young people then this is for you.

All rooms are air-conditioned and well-equipped and balcony or terrace. Playa del Inglés is hugely popular with its line up of beaches, bars and shops. The name means English Beach, so it attracts a certain sort of traveller. The Neptuno is just as well-placed for the beach, too – the Maspalomas dunes are a 10-minute walk away, while the gay beach is 20.

The hotel is a sand-coloured, six-storey building, rooms are spacious, cool airy and homely. Outside, the action is all at the lagoon-shaped pool. There’s a waterslide as well as a palm tree-dotted terrace, , scattered with loungers and parasols. Food is plentiful and tasty, with barbecue feasts or Spanish-inspired tapas and paella.
