Set in the heart of Mykonos Town, this chic hotel pairs designer fittings with a chic sense of style.

This place looks more like a Greek village than a hotel. Winding paths lined with basil, geraniums, and bougainvillea lead to whitewashed buildings with blue shutters and doors.

A white-wood sun deck spotted with daybeds frames the big pool, which is matched with an open-air hot tub and a bar. Over in the spa, treatments inspired by the Ancient Greeks use natural oils, honey, and yoghurt.

The good looks continue in the bedrooms, which team designer Bonacina Pierantonio furniture with slate-grey cushions. Roomy beds, contemporary lighting, and flatscreen TVs also come as standard. Even the bathrooms are smart – designed by Philippe Starck, they feature glass-sided baths and big basins.

On the food front, the modern Thioni restaurant cooks up creative Greek cuisine that’s served al fresco by the pool. House specialities include gourmet dishes like sea bass with dill sauce.

Sandy Megali Ammos beach is just a 10-minute wander through Mykonos Town’s narrow streets. At the harbour, also 10 minutes away, windmills watch over fishing boats and a domed church, while ferries make tracks for the island of Delos, an ancient sanctuary said to be the birthplace of Apollo.
