Right in the thick of things and close to the beach, you couldn’t ask for a better base.
The first thing you need to know about this place is how to pronounce it – otherwise you’ll be in for some taxi fun. For the initial syllable, imagine you’re in the audience on a game show – it’s an ‘oooh’ sound. The other bit is like a purring cat – ‘rrr’. Name aside, the hotel’s in a great spot – the centre of Gumbet is a couple of minutes’ walk and the beach is about 5 to 10 minutes on foot. In terms of accommodation, it’s a straightforward affair – small-ish rooms, basic wetrooms and a pleasant enough pool that gets the sun most of the day. Oh, and Mustafa the barman is a hoot.

You’re sorted for nights out here. Bar Street is a 5-minute stumble away, so you can be partying hard in a jiffy. Plus, getting into Bodrum’s a breeze – there’s a dolmus stop right outside the hotel.Transfer time
