This designer hotel rolls out its wares in a fantastic location - right near the edge of Santorini’s caldera.

This is designer chic all over. Cue angular blocks, sleek colonnades and lots of natural light. What’s more, its stunning looks come with an equally stunning location - it’s perched virtually on the rim of Santorini’s epic caldera.

Zoom out a bit and you’ll actually see it’s right in the middle of the island with the caldera on one side and the Aegean sea on the other, so you’ve got wonderful views to the east and west. The hotel is also close to Thira. Its shops, bars and restaurants are a 15-minute walk away.

The interiors come straight from the modern art school. Everything’s pared down to a minimum so it’s all clean lines and open-plan spaces. Sink into a huge sofa in the lobby or sit on a metal barstool for a cocktail. If anything, the bedrooms are even cooler. Dressed in white with splashes of jet-black and turquoise, they’re furnished with cocoon-style chairs, brushed aluminium lamps and bird wall motifs. And mod-con wise, expect monochrome marble bathrooms and flatscreen satellite TVs. There are balconies, too. And some of the rooms at this five star resort have views over the volcanic caldera and others of the valley, Santorini villages and the Aegean Sea.

Outside, there are three pools all bordered by sun terraces. Close by, there’s the Crocus restaurant - where guests dine on classic Mediterranean dishes. For breakfasts, though, it’s the Kapparis. It’s a bright and breezy setting for the generous buffets.
