Ticking all the boxes, the Pateo Village in Albufeira combines a convenient location with a wonderful setting and superb amenities. This is a brilliant place to bring the family. Everyone will love the outdoor pools – two large rectangles of blue, surrounded by sun terraces and rolling green lawns. Add to that a separate kids’ pool, a whirlpool and pool bar to keep you refreshed, and you might be tempted not to venture further. Then there’s the lovely glass-in indoor pool, plus tennis courts, multi-sports court and a playground.

The apartments at the Pateo Village are self-catering, sleeping up to five, with kitchenettes and either balconies or terraces. They are housed in low-rise, Portuguese style white blocks with terracotta roofs and inside they are bright, pleasant and comfortable. Albufeira and the beach are about a 15-minute walk away, but you can always hop on the local bus. The resort has a good range of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants, so you’ll be able to find plenty to do.
