Up in the hills, along a country track, is Villa Estiricia. Surrounded by mango groves, this whitewashed place is a real hideaway.

Huge palms dot the garden and there’s a pool out here, too. It’s a good-sized curvy number, framed by a sun terrace, and which offers up views that sweep right down to the sea. Factor in a barbecue and an outdoor eating area and this place is seriously geared towards quality time outdoors.

Inside, it’s just as pleasing on the eye. A cosy place that sleeps four, it’s got the home-from-home feel just right. The living room is painted yellow and white and comes with comfy sofas, a big corner fireplace and picture windows with shutters. Add ceramic plates on the walls, a chunky pine sideboard and a satellite TV and it’s a snug little place to relax.

As for the two bedrooms – a double with an en suite and a twin - they’ve been given the same homely treatment as the rest of the villa. White walls provide a backdrop to simple rooms with pine furniture.

And lastly, a word on location. Villa Estiricia is just a five to ten-minute drive from the shops, bars and restaurants of Frigiliana, while the beach at Nerja is just a 15-minute drive away.
