With a back-to-nature setting close to the coast, the Eden Hotel makes an idyllic retreat.

This hotel is tucked into the heart of ancient woodland on the outskirts of Rovinj. Walk for a couple of minutes in one direction and you’ll come to the sea and a rocky beach. Head the other way, and you’ll stumble upon bars and restaurants.

With a setting like this, it’s only right the focus of this place should be on the outdoors. If it wasn’t for the clusters of sunbeds, the tree-fringed lawn would look like a clearing in a forest. Tread deeper into the trees, and you’ll come to a new freeform swimming pool.

In terms of activities, you’ve got tennis and ten-pin bowling to try your hand at. And when you need to relax, you can visit the newly-refurbished spa. It has indoor and outdoor areas, a couples’ treatment room, and an extensive menu of massages and facials.

When it comes to accommodation, the bedroom furnishings are modern and space-saving. Flatscreen satellite TVs are set into alcoves and dark-wood desks are slim with chairs tucked neatly underneath. The beds, meanwhile, take centre stage. They’re big and dressed in bold tangerine-orange.

To round things off, there are the restaurants. The main one is a buffet set-up, so you’ll get lots of choice, plus show-cooking in the evenings. Aside from that, there’s a coffee shop, a grill and an à la carte eatery, too.
