Set in a leafy spot just minutes from the beach, the Hotel Miramar is perfectly placed for nature lovers and sun worshippers alike.

Surrounded by hills and with scenic walks and cycle paths right on the doorstep, this hotel, formerly known as the Hotel Pollux, is great for outward-bound types. If sightseeing’s more your thing, you can walk up to the Medieval town of Labin in about an hour, or catch the bus – it stops on the main road near the hotel.

Style-wise, the Miramar is a modern affair. Inside, it’s decked out in a smart, creamy palette throughout - from the open-plan lobby through to the spot-lit restaurant with show cooking. In the bedrooms, contemporary light-wood fittings and minty green walls create a really fresh feel.

Outside, meanwhile, loungers and parasols are clustered around the pool. It’s a simple, circular number that sits alongside a smaller one for kids. And if you prefer swimming in the sea, the beach is just a couple of minutes away. It’s rocky all the way out, so pack a pair of reef shoes for wading into the water. Or, follow the pretty coastal path for sandier shores in about fifteen minutes.
