The simple whitewashed façade of Casa Bougainvillea belies what lies inside. Step indoors, and you’ll discover a smart, stylish space with a vintage vibe. The open-plan lounge and dining room has been kitted out with antique furnishings, like a Chesterfield-style sofa and Gothic dark-wood table. It’s not all about the past though, hi-tech trimmings come in the form of a satellite TV and a DVD player.

The bedrooms, too, have a classic feel to them. The overall décor is pretty simple, with whitewashed walls and windows framed by amber-coloured curtains. But it’s the beds that really standout. They look slightly Medieval in style and come topped with intricate headboards.

Step out into the garden, and everything gets a bit more modern. The first thing you’ll come to is the covered veranda. It’s got a table and chairs, and there’s a barbecue out here, too, so it’s great for al fresco meals. Just off the veranda is a terrace lined with lemon-yellow sunloungers. They face the pool, a roomy rectangular affair with a shallow and a deep end.

Lastly, there’s the matter of location. This place is only a minute’s walk from the bars, restaurants and a supermarket, so eating out or stocking up on essentials is easy. There’s a beach not far away, either - about ten minutes on foot.
