Equator Village details
Located on the southernmost atoll of the Maldives, you will have to cross the Equator to reach Equator Village in Addu Atoll. Unlike most Maldives holidays on tiny islands, Addu Atoll is a reef of larger islands, all connected by a causeway, so this makes the perfect destination for people who like to have somewhere to explore with a bit of history: Addu Atoll used to be a British base. The island also offers one of the best diving areas in the Maldives, another reason for booking into the Equator Village.
The hotel itself is spread in lush tropical gardens and stands on a perfect paler-than-pale sandy beach that is fringed with palm trees on one side and heavenly blue water on the other. Just back from the beach is a gorgeous freeform pool with a swim-up bar; other facilities include the tranquil Serena Spa, squash and tennis courts and a PADI dive school. The Equator Village has one restaurant that serves delicious buffet-style meals, while snacks are available in the lounge bar. Accommodation is in pretty blue and white beach bungalows, simply furnished with air conditioning, ceiling fans and fridges.
