The Fortina’s main claim to fame is its spas. Each designed around a different theme, these miniature marbled temples offer everything from seawater thalassotherapy pools to ayurveda massages and facials. What’s more, some spa amenities come within the All Inclusive package.

The pools are impressive, too. You’ve got two indoor pools, and at the front of the hotel there are two lagoon-like numbers forming part of the lido. Because the hotel sits on Sliema’s waterfront, you’re treated to amazing views over the harbour to Valletta’s domes and spires.

Food-wise, you can tuck into buffet meals at ‘La Valette’ restaurant. Or take your tastebuds around the world at the Italian pizzeria, Indian, Mediterranean and Chinese-come-Thai eateries.

Finished in standard modern style, the rooms all open to balconies with sea or garden views. Satellite TVs and air-conditioning are here, too.

Last up is the location. You’re in the heart of Sliema, with plenty of shops, restaurants and boat cruises at your beck and call. Getting to Valletta is easy, too - just hop on a ferry or bus from the nearby terminals and you’re there in a few minutes.
