This classically-styled hotel is on the edge of Viareggio’s main square and less than 5 minutes from the beach. 

Thanks to its position on the fringes of Viareggio’s main square, Piazza Mazzini, the Hotel President is just a 2-minute walk from a long list of restaurants and shops. The hotel overlooks the seaside promenade, too, which means Viareggio beach is less than 5 minutes away.

Although the hotel was established in 1949, it’s undergone 2 refurbishments, so its look is classic but not dated. The bedrooms feature dark-wood furniture and marble bathrooms alongside mod-cons like Wi-Fi and Sky TV. Some of the rooms have balconies with views of the sea.

There’s no swimming pool at the hotel, but guests can make use of two beach clubs. The family-run Irene’s is less than a 2-minute walk from the hotel and it’s got a snack bar and restaurant. The larger B2K Balena, meanwhile, is a 5-minute walk away. This place is home to 5 swimming pools, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and a spa, which offers a bio sauna, colour showers and chocolate therapy treatments.

The restaurant at the Hotel President is elegant, with leather seating, Murano glass wall lamps and floor-to-ceiling curtains in white cotton. You can choose between buffet and a la carte dining at breakfast and dinner. The morning menu includes everything from croissants to scrambled eggs. The evening options combine Tuscan dishes like stewed meats and pasta with international choices.
