Set in beautiful gardens, this quiet hotel on the edge of Forte dei Marmi has a fantastic location close to a sandy beach.

This hotel has a peaceful setting on the Tuscan Riviera, set among century-old pine woods. It’s a 30-minute walk to the centre of Forte dei Marmi, a smart seaside resort sandwiched between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the towering Apuan Alps. The wide, sandy beach is even closer – it’s less than a 5-minute walk away.

From the outside the hotel looks typically Italian, with white window shutters, white-painted balconies and lemon-yellow walls. But step inside and the décor is more contemporary. The lobby houses polished dark-wood furniture, statement sculptures and giant vases filled with elaborate flower displays. Rooms are bright and airy, with white walls and accents of sunshine yellow and sea blue.

Breakfast is served as a buffet, while lunch and dinner menus draw inspiration from traditional Tuscan fare. Typical dishes include handmade pastas and rich risottos. The hotel also has its own wine cellar, with superb local and international labels. You can choose to eat in the restaurant, or outside on the shady, flower-filled garden terrace.

The pool is a good size, and has an in-built whirlpool bath. It’s surrounded by a stone sunbathing terrace, and set in a garden area which features shady hedges, pine trees and well-kept lawns.
