Holiday in style at the Hotel Riu El Mansour at Mahdia in Tunisia – a real treat for all the family. This luxurious four-star hotel is right on the beach and there is so much to do that it’s hard to know where to start. Outside there’s a huge freeform pool, complete with palm islands, a kids’ pool, expansive sun terraces and a pool bar. Inside there’s another pool, with a fitness room, a thalassotherapy spa, a Turkish bath and a sauna. Sporty types can hit the tennis courts, while down on the beach there’s a good selection of water sports.

Inside the Riu El Mansour is like an Arabian palace, with domed roofs, marble stairs and oriental styling. It’s also something of a gourmet destination – the buffets in the main restaurant are simply eye-popping to behold, and there are two a la carte eateries, serving Italian and Tunisian specialities, as well as an authentic Moorish cafe. The accommodation here is refined and luxurious – the bedrooms all have air conditioning, satellite TV and either a terrace or a balcony. The centre of Mahdia is four kilometres from the hotel, though there are some local shops and restaurants nearby.
