There’s no missing the low stone building of the Olive Press Hotel – it still has its distinctive tall chimney from its days as a working olive oil factory. Inside, though, while much of the olde worlde charm of this 100-year-old building is still in tact, the bedrooms bear little resemblance to their former lives.

They’re smartly turned out air-conditioned spaces. Exposed stone and whitewashed walls sit side-by-side with simple, rustic furniture. Think white wooden beds with dinky bedside tables and desks set beneath huge mirrors.

And clearly the outdoors is the place to be - most of the hotel’s facilities are out in the open. For starters, there’s the swimming pool. It’s a straightforward rectangular number set just steps from the sea. It’s a low-key place with a few sunbeds. The main sunbathing spot is a few metres away just above the beach. Relax and enjoy the drinks from the bar open till sunset, its a converted boat with a rush roof, which is painted bright red , purple and blue, it looks like it's sailed in from the Caribbean.

You’ll also find the restaurant and bar outside, too. The first is set on a covered terrace overlooking the beach and sea. It’s where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served. The first is a help-yourself affair which has breads, cheese and ham along with the more standard offering of cereals, fruits and eggs. Evening meals, meanwhile mix Greek favourites with international dishes.
