Amazing pools, both inside and out, characterise the Sunset Resort in Pomorie on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast. In fact this is a superb five-star resort set in acres of landscaped water park – three vast freeform pools with water slides, children’s pools, pool bars and sun terraces – all within 20 metres of one of the Black Seas finest beaches. In addition, the hotel has a spa and gym, and bowling, table tennis and billiards facilities. The accommodation, spread between the five separate buildings that make up the resort, is pleasant and spacious, with television and balconies – offering a choice of studio, one-bedroom or two-bedroom units with kitchenettes.

Dining in is a treat with four spectacular buffet restaurants and four a la carte choices – French, Asian, Italian and seafood. There is also a cafe and a number of bars. However, if you want to dine out, historic Pomorie town is just three kilometres away by bus – expect cobbled streets and ancient buildings, along with a selection of restaurants and bars.
