The scenery around Villas Avra and Calma gives you the feeling you’ve stepped into a painting of old Greece. Grand-looking mountains sit proudly in the distance. Cypress trees shoot into sky. And the view of whitewashed houses and vineyards below is just beautiful. Better yet, there’s a garden with private pool that’s the perfect spot to really enjoy the setting.

Head inside and you’ll see the owners have interior design down to a fine art. It’s all bare brick walls and stone floors, with lighting and furnishings giving them a New York loft feel. But the contemporary touches don’t detract from the warm, rustic atmosphere. Wood-beam ceilings and wrought-iron lanterns give the properties a vintage, timeless air.

But there’s more to these hideaways than just looks alone. Both are open-plan and the living room easily accommodates an L-shaped sofa and wooden table, along with gadgets like a TV, DVD player and stereo. In the dining area you’ve got a family-sized table and chairs and just to the left is a fully-equipped and very stylish kitchen. But the real star of the show is the patio windows to the rear. These huge panels of glass take up the entire end wall, so you can really soak up the views.
