This is the place to head for time-honoured features, a traditional high-walled garden and a secluded swimming pool, Ta Cenc Hotel, Sannat villa is spot on. Set on the outskirts of Sannat, peace and quiet are assured. And because the village is so small, you’re only a short way from the main square, with its church, restaurants and shops. Plus, you’ve got the rugged cliffs of Ta’ Cenc and a small, pebbly bay nearby.

The villa itself is all rustic charm, with stone and arched patio doors outside, and beamed ceilings and exposed-stone walls inside. Everything’s spread out over one floor, with a stone archway from the hall leading into the lounge. The lounge is an individual, shape, with a soft padded rattan sofa and armchairs. The kitchen is well equipped. There are two twin rooms, each with exposed beams, pine furniture and a ceiling fan. One comes with its own en suite, and the other has the use of a separate shower room. There’s a paved terrace framing a small swimming pool. Circled by walls, it’s a really private space.
