Picture a typical Greek hotel with a low-set whitewashed front. Add to that windows with mocha-coloured shutters and top it all off with terracotta roof tiles, and you’ve got the Dionyssos Hotel. It’s in a great spot on the edge of Skopelos Town, which means shops, harbour-side tavernas and the beach are all just a short walk away.

In terms of what else the hotel has to offer, there’s a large L-shaped pool. It’s framed by a sun deck, which features loungers and linen parasols. Finishing things off nicely is a bar, which does snacks and a great line in cocktails.

Breakfast is a large buffet spread with hot and cold dishes that’ll keep you going until lunch. And during the day, the pool bar serves a delicious selection of light meals.

Inside, meanwhile, bedrooms are simply styled. White walls provide a blank canvas for dark-wooden furniture. In-room trimmings include air-conditioning and balconies, so you can soak up the views over the pool or the bay.

You may also be required to leave the island early for your return journey to the airport due to local schedules and availability of transfer.
