With its whitewashed exterior and blue shuttered windows, Villa Afroditi is every inch the Mediterranean escape. At the front, there’s a terrace area and pool, coupled with fantastic countryside views over Skopelos Town, that go all the way down to the sea. Next to the pool, you’ll find wood-and-linen patio furniture and a built-in barbecue, so al fresco meals are taken care of, too.
Indoors, the open-plan layout of the villa gives the ground floor a real sense of space. The kitchen area is small, but it’s fitted out in a modern style and includes a dishwasher and microwave. Head from the kitchen into the lounge area, meanwhile, and there’s a TV and DVD player if you fancy a film one evening. Even more importantly, the entire area’s fully air-conditioned, as are the three bedrooms.
Location-wise, you’ll feel very much out in the sticks, so you’ll definitely make use of your hire car. That said, it’s actually only a 15-minute drive into Skopelos Town where you’ve got the full range of restaurants, bars and shops, not to mention a picture-book harbour front. For a spot of culture, leave some time to visit the town’s church of Panagia tou Pyrgou.
