This recently refurbished hotel definitely tops the ‘small but perfectly formed’ category.

It’s the funky little touches that set this place apart. Take the trendy bar area. Dotted with leather sofas and porthole-style mirrors, it wouldn’t look out of place in downtown Ibiza. Factor in an al fresco stone courtyard lined with cushioned wicker armchairs, and there’s a classic edge to the Lido, too. What’s more, the whole place is nestled into one of northern Greece’s largest pine forests. So despite the stylish feel, there’s a real back-to-nature vibe.

Outside, you’ll find a classic turquoise rectangular pool. It’s pulled up against an open-air bar and has a special detachable roof – so you can take a dip in comfort whatever the weather. The beach, meanwhile, is just a ten-minute walk away.

As for the bedrooms here, they’ve all been decorated a little differently so no two are the same. Pastel shades like duck egg-blue and soft creams set the tone, while elegant wooden furniture and big beds with padded headboards take centre-stage. Contemporary touches like high-speed internet access, satellite TVs and mini-fridges provide the trimmings.

On the food front, Continental breakfast is served in the pool area, just the thing to start the day.
