The family-run Rostrevor Apartment Hotel is set in the heart of the lively St Lawrence Gap district, so you’ve got restaurants, nightclubs and reggae lounges on your doorstep. Better still, it’s fronted by a sweep of white sand that gives way to the calm waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Just above the beach, you’ll find the swimming pool. It’s on a sun-trap terrace that’s dotted with sunbeds and umbrellas, and makes the most of the views that stretch out over the sea.

There are 2 restaurants to choose from here, the Harlequin and the Almond Tree, serving international and Caribbean dishes. Head to the latter on a Sunday afternoon for a Bajan buffet. Local musicians play the steel pan and guitar while you eat, so there’s a really good atmosphere. Elsewhere, on Wednesday and Saturday nights, there are barbecues out by the pool.
