The Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico is an extremely popular hotel that has a fantastic position right on the beach. There are five swimming pools within the complex, as well as four whirlpool baths, and with the beach virtually on the doorstep, it is a short stroll from a hotel sun lounger to the sea nearby. Facilities at the hotel include volleyball, scuba diving, a spa, kayaking and sailing and there are also bicycles for hire if you want to take a turn around the grounds. Kids are well taken care of at the hotel’s kids club and there is a mini disco in the evenings for little ones.

Dining at the Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa is in one of the hotel’s two buffet restaurants, or at the range of à la carte restaurants, including a Mexican restaurant, Tepanyaki restaurant and steakhouse. The hotel has several bars and guests can also use the disco at the sister hotel, Catalonia Yucatan Beach Hotel. The hotel is only 400 metres from the local marina where there is a selection of bars and restaurants and 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen is not far away, with its lively nightlife scene.
