Casa Maris details
Colourful potted plants and shrubs line the path to the front door of this enchanting one-bedroom cottage. Set against its pretty pastel-shaded walls, it’s a fitting scene for a rustic retreat. The setting is rather lovely, too. In a mountain village at an altitude of 600 metres, the cottage has panoramic views across the countryside. And although it’s joined to two neighbouring villas, its design provides plenty of privacy.
Inside, it’s very traditional – think vaulted-wood ceilings, tiled floors and solid wooden furniture. At one end is the small, bright kitchen with dark wood units and a dining area. And at the other end is a country-cosy lounge with a quirky sofa cut into the natural stone and covered with plump, comfy cushions. Some of the walls are white-washed, while others are a soft shade of moss-green.
The patio is nicely enclosed and ideal for al fresco meals and there’s a pretty courtyard surrounding the small pool. It’s well lit, so it’s a lovely spot in the evenings as well as during the day.
You’ll find the pretty village of El Paso just a five-minute drive away where there’s a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. And the nearest beach is about 20 minutes by car.
