There is a real feel of a holiday hideaway at the Hotel La Palma Princess & Spa, Fuencaliente, which is crisscrossed by ambling little lanes and bridge that spread between wide sun terraces with many lush tropical plants. The setting is at a cliff top and the swimming pools have astounding wide-angle views. There are many shaded areas and three bars, a pizzeria and restaurant this is a very luxurious place to relax.

The décor of the hotel is beautiful and will draw you in with its deep earthy colours, making it feel warm and traditional. There are some lovely big sofas in the foyer make a comfy place to hang out. The bedrooms are in smaller whitewashed buildings. It’s all laidback. The rooms have large walk-in showers, and substantial sized bath tubs.

From the Hotel La Palma Princess & Spa tt is about an hour drive over mountains to the capital, Santa Cruz - you will need to book a car if you plan to go exploring. There are many activities on-site, though - volleyball, waterpolo, tennis, even pistol shooting for those who like to keep active.
